Photodynamic Blue light therapy

Our Southlake dermatology office was one of the first in Tarrant county to offer PDT treatment for acne and actinic keratosis. Treatment consists of application of Levulan (clear liquid medicine) to the skin which is allowed to absorb over about 45 minutes. We then have the patient expose the area under blue light for 10 minutes which feels like a mild sunburn. Patients must stay out of sunlight for 24 hours afterwards. You can expect some mild peeling and pinkness but recovery is fairly quick. If you have used Carac, Aldara, or Effudex in the past, you will likely prefer this treatment over those.
